Volunteer With Us!
Prince Rupert has developed over the past decade as a vibrant port of call for cruise ships headed to Alaska, unloading thousands of passengers into the community and inducing important spending in the local economy. In 2022, the Port of Prince Rupert saw a 230 per cent increase in cruise passenger volumes versus 2019 – the last time cruise ships were operating in Canada. Between May and October 2022, just over 40,000 cruise passengers transited through the Port, making it the busiest cruise season in Prince Rupert in over a decade!
As their only stop in Canada, cruise passengers are always excited to learn about the local culture, wildlife, and community amenities that make Prince Rupert such an incredible place to live and visit.
In 2023, we expect over 80,000 passengers to visit Prince Rupert via cruise.

Tourism Prince Rupert depends on our volunteer visitor ambassadors to help showcase everything that Prince Rupert has to offer and create a welcoming experience for cruise passengers.
What does it take to be a fabulous volunteer ambassador?
We need volunteers with good communication skills when talking to people of all ages, who are knowledgeable about the history of Prince Rupert, and who are familiar with the regular tourist sites and places to visit. You need to be able to work as a team with other volunteers to present Prince Rupert in the most favourable light.
