A killer double bill of Northwest ROCK. These bands are some of the best to do it and we’re lucky to have them as Northwest BC local talents!
G̱a̱mksimoon (the Sm’algya̱x word for “waterspout”/”sea twister”) is a high-energy fuzz rock trio hailing from rural Northern BC. They are fronted by Gitga’at First Nation songwriter and axe-wielder Wil Uks Batsga G̱a̱laaw (Jeremy Pahl), who sings entirely in Sm’algya̱x.
The trio blends heavy riff rock and doom metal influences with authentic pre-contact Ts’msyen rhythms and melodies, resulting in a sonic experience that is akin to the natural phenomena they are named after
Highbush Caribou is an independent, DIY surf rock and indie folk band based out of Prince Rupert, British Columbia.
Formed by musicians active in the local North Coast music scene, the group is known for blending dynamic folk storytelling with a spooky, atmospheric surf-tinged rock and a gritty western edge.
