DESCRIPTION:Join Scalawag as they tour in support of their sophomore album “Sehnsucht\,” released on June 1st!\nThe Vancouver based multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Scalawag will be playing songs off the album with a full band\, and their usual quirky stage banter at the Wheelhouse starting at 8pm.\nA little about the album:\nSehnsucht is German for Nostalgia\, longing\, or yearning. More specifically\, a deep unsettled longing for something ‘else.’ An unapologetically melancholic indie-folk album born straight from the heartfelt reflections of Singer- Songwriter Teo Saefkow’s experiences with the concept of Sehnsucht\, and influenced by the folky- atmospheric confessional style of artists like Lucy Dacus and Gregory Alan Isakov. Scalawag’s sophomore album Sehnsucht deals with the multi- disciplinary artist’s attempt at finding meaning within relation. DESCRIPTION:Saltwater Hank backed by a full band\, alongside Danny Bell and His Disappointments! Joining up for a double-bill performance at The Wheelhouse Brewing CO. on Saturday March 4th.\nLimited advance tickets available for $15 at the brewery. $20 at the door. Doors at 8pm\, show at 9pm.\nSaltwater Hank has a natural comedic timing throughout his songwriting and performance\, and the many hours spent on all of his chosen instruments are shown through his skillful delivery. Having relocated back to his home community of Kxeen (also known as Prince Rupert\, BC) before the pandemic\, the time away from the hustle of touring and other music industry pressures allowed Saltwater Hank to hold a newfound space for himself and his community. Immersing himself in his roots led to writing songs about his own experiences gathering food and spending time on the ocean and nearby Skeena River (Ḵ’a̱la̱ Ksyen)\, as well as musically relaying the stories of history and culture shared with him in the Gitga’ata community. A testament to his commitment to the craft and the connection that it serves\, Saltwater Hank has released four EPs since the beginning of 2020\, all aptly named “That’s Not How Tommy Played It (Volumes 1 to 4)”. Saltwater Hank has always been a storyteller\, and he’s embracing it now more than ever.\nDanny Bell and His Disappointments play accordion-led folk/country/punk tunes with infections charm. Based in British Columbia on unceded Lhedli T’enneh territory\, Danny’s music is regional. It’s steeped in his affection for his home in the hinterland\, a blue collar town\, the stink of the pulp mill\, and everyday life in Northern BC. Bell’s songs toe the line between tragedy and comedy.\nDanny Bell and His Disappointments released their second album\, “Songs for the town”\, in December of 2020. Exclaim! magazine called the album an “anti-capitalist\, anti-elitist\, anti-asshole folk record for small moments in small places.” The band’s newest release\, titled Killing birds\, was mostly recorded in the foreman’s office in an abandoned sawmill just outside of Mackenzie\, BC. The EP’s songs are reactions to a change in pace and identity during the pandemic. The slow pace and isolation of a part-time security job brought some new perspective.\n
