SUMMARY:Lighter Days Lantern Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The Prince Rupert Community Arts Council is excited to announce that this year we are coordinating two-days of professionally-led lantern-making workshop in March\, to be followed by a festival event following Earth Day festivities in Seal Cove. As we move into longer\, lighter days\, we are looking forward to celebrating with an annual event. This is an opportunity for Rupertites with a creative streak\, kids\, families\, and anyone looking to have a little fun with it to gather and celebrate the return of lighter days (literally by lighting them up!). \nWorkshops are free and open to all\, though space on day 1 will be limited\, so please reach out to register in advance. The first day of workshops will be more directed\, with the second day being a drop in opportunity for anyone looking to complete a more simple lantern. All supplies will be provided. \nWe are pleased to be welcoming Carmen Rosen\, Artistic Director of the Still Moon Arts Society in Vancouver as our workshop facilitator. Carmen Rosen is an artist\, singer\, community organizer and the Founding Artistic Director of Still Moon Arts Society. She has an Art History degree from UBC\, an Interdisciplinary diploma from Emily Carr and has received the Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award\, the Queen’s Jubilee Award\, and the BC Achievement Award for her art with the community. She has spent over 20 years focussing her creative projects on the Still Creek Watershed in her Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. Her work is inspired by nature and her passion for environmental sustainability. \nTwo Days of Workshops: Saturday\, March 22nd and Sunday\, March 23rd from 1-4 pm\, Prince Rupert Library Multipurpose Room (registration for first day to prcac@citywest.ca  and drop in activities for second day)\nLighter Days Lantern Festival: Sunday\, April 21st at 7pm. \nCan’t make the workshop event?
