SUMMARY:Butze Blitz Loopapalooza Trail Race
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the first annual Butze Blitz Loopapalooza!\n WHAT\nThe format is simple – loops of the Butze Rapids trail – but the distance you choose will determine the challenge. Runners can choose from a single (5km)\, triple (15km)\, or quintuple (25km) loop\, all run in a counter-clockwise direction\, with each loop starting and ending at the trailhead parking lot. \nWHEN\n\n\nSaturday May 9th\, 2026 @ Butze Rapids Trailhead \n\n\nMandatory pre-race briefing at 8:45am \n\n\n9am start time for all distances \n\n\n10am cut-off for the single loop \n\n\n1pm cut-off for the triple and quintuple loop \n\n\nParking is limited at the Butze Rapids parking lot\, and the trail will remain open to the public during the race event. Please consider carpooling to the event to reduce congestion on race day. Secondary parking can be found at the base of Tall Trees trail\, a few hundred meters down the highway. If you have friends or family coming to watch or crew you on race day\, please ensure they use the Tall Trees parking area. \n\n\nRace package pick-up will be from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Friday May 8th – location TBD. Race package pick-up will also be available the morning of the race from 8:15am – 8:45am at the Butze Rapids Trailhead. \n\n\nWHY\nFirst time trail runners\, looking to dip your toe into a fun and exciting trail race? Register for the single loop and experience first hand the joy that comes with trail running. \nAlready familiar with trail running and looking to push yourself? Register for the triple loop and get to know the trail in detail. \nSeasoned trail runner looking to push your limits\, or already trained up for a half marathon and looking to try something with more dirt and vert? The quintuple loop is the perfect challenge for you! \nPlease note that trail running is a challenging sport\, and trips or falls along the route are likely on race day. First Aid will be provided on site for minor injuries\, but every runners is responsible for their own safety on the race course. Please ensure you are running within your ability\, and always pull off to one side to lets others runners pass when it is safe to do so. \nHOW\nAn aid station will be set up at the start/finish line. Only runners taking part in the triple or quintuple event will have access to the aid station\, and will be able to run past the aid station between loops. \nSignage will be placed at all the trail junctions to ensure runners stay on course\, however it is the responsibility of the runner to ensure they know the course and stay on track throughout the event.

Starting at Prince Rupert\, the “Ocean Gateway of the North”\, following Highway 16 along the majestic Skeena River\, known to the Ts’msyen people\, on whose territory the race takes place\, as the “River of Mist”\, the course wind its way between towering granite cliffs and lush rain forest to finish in Terrace.
