SUMMARY:Teens: Creative Minds
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Northern British Columbia is especially happy to be able to bring you our next exhibit in the Ruth Harvey Art Gallery\, Teens: Creative Minds\, as it is in keeping with one of the Museum’s 100th anniversary themes – looking to the future and the role of today’s young people in shaping it. \nExplore the teenage brain and gain insight into its inherent creativity. Meet a dozen Canadian teenagers who have used their innovative minds to make the world a better place. Discover 12 inventions\, including: a robotic heart that beats according to the patient’s level of exertion; a bad weather collector that transforms the energy created by rain and bad weather into electricity; the first super hero\, Superman. \nNavigate an obstacle course blindfolded wearing a belt equipped with ultrasound sensors; write sentences using Bliss-characters\, an Ideographic language; take a quiz to discover your personality type\, and much more. \nVenue: Museum of Northern BC \nOrganizer: Museum of Northern BC

SUMMARY:Lighter Days Lantern Workshops
DESCRIPTION:The Prince Rupert Community Arts Council is excited to announce that this year we are coordinating two-days of professionally-led lantern-making workshop in March\, to be followed by a festival event following Earth Day festivities in Seal Cove. As we move into longer\, lighter days\, we are looking forward to celebrating with an annual event. This is an opportunity for Rupertites with a creative streak\, kids\, families\, and anyone looking to have a little fun with it to gather and celebrate the return of lighter days (literally by lighting them up!). \nWorkshops are free and open to all\, though space on day 1 will be limited\, so please reach out to register in advance. The first day of workshops will be more directed\, with the second day being a drop in opportunity for anyone looking to complete a more simple lantern. All supplies will be provided. \nWe are pleased to be welcoming Carmen Rosen\, Artistic Director of the Still Moon Arts Society in Vancouver as our workshop facilitator. Carmen Rosen is an artist\, singer\, community organizer and the Founding Artistic Director of Still Moon Arts Society. She has an Art History degree from UBC\, an Interdisciplinary diploma from Emily Carr and has received the Vancouver Mayor’s Arts Award\, the Queen’s Jubilee Award\, and the BC Achievement Award for her art with the community. She has spent over 20 years focussing her creative projects on the Still Creek Watershed in her Renfrew-Collingwood neighbourhood. Her work is inspired by nature and her passion for environmental sustainability. \nTwo Days of Workshops: Saturday\, March 22nd and Sunday\, March 23rd from 1-4 pm\, Prince Rupert Library Multipurpose Room (registration for first day to prcac@citywest.ca  and drop in activities for second day)\nLighter Days Lantern Festival: Sunday\, April 21st at 7pm. \nCan’t make the workshop event? No problem! Follow our Facebook event/page where we will share at-home resources for simple lantern making as well.

SUMMARY:July Crowd & The Infirmary @ Cowpuccinos
DESCRIPTION:“Alt Rock Never Sleeps\, Pop Punk Never Dies” Tour\nBC Pop-Punkers (and 2024 Downpour Festival headliners!) JULY CROWD & Northern Alt-Rockers THE INFIRMARY team up with Prince Rupert’s own Cowpuccino’s Coffee to bring you an exhilarating night of alternative rock music. We can’t wait to hang out with you!\nDOORS ARE AT 7:00PM. The show will start shortly after\, around 7:30pm.\nTHIS SHOW IS ALL AGES. There is a licensed bar inside for those of-age patrons.\nTickets are live right now\, and available for only $15 plus fees at:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/…/july-crowd-the-infirmary…\nThese are small venue shows – we recommend getting presale tickets early to guarantee your spot – there may be little to no room left at the door.\nJULY CROWD is a nostalgia-driven Pop Punk trio originally from Prince George BC\, Canada. Growing up outside of the “alternative hotspots” of Canada’s thriving music scene\, they have been carving their own way with their 2000’s MTV-era feel\, combined with stylistic elements of modern Alt-Rock. Their most recent hit\, Intentions\, has eclipsed nearly 30000+ streams on Spotify\, and garnered over 10000+ views on YouTube! https://instagram.com/julycrowd\nTHE INFIRMARY bring a subversive and fresh approach to punk-rock. Influences stem from the likes of hardcore\, hip-hop\, and electronic music. Bringing sauce\, grease and chops. Based out of Smithers\, BC. Their most recent song\, Jupiter\, is bound to knock your socks off! They are a must-not-miss live performance.\nhttps://instagram.com/infirmaryband_\nMerchandise will be available on-site.
